The Ducks recently resigned two of their players to new contracts. James Wisniewski and Fabian Brunnstrom both received 2 year deals worth 2.5 and 1.7 million dollars respectively.
The Anaheim Ducks GM had this to say:
"We are not paying Brunnstrom the 2.5 many expected he would get because his production slipped last season. We are giving him this generous price to show that Anaheim is willing to invest in him as long as he is willing to improve his game. He will play on the fourth line to try to refine his game. If his numbers increase, we are perfectly willing to give him a raise. Same goes for Wisniewski, he did not reach the expected production that would result in a raise. So we will pay him the same type of salary and give him (in his words) his 'extended tryout'"
