Kings Acquire Star Russian Ilya Kovalchuk | Williams Heading Back to Carolina Kovalchuk a King for 12 Years!In a deal that was announced earlier today, the Los Angeles Kings have acquired Ilya Kovalchuk from the New Jersey Devils in return for Colten Teubert, Davis Drewiske, and their first round pick in 2010. Shortly following the trade, the Kings announced the signing of Kovalchuk for 12 years at a total of $112M ($9.3M cap hit per season). This makes Kovalchuk the second-highest paid player in the league. Kings general manager had the following to say: "This is a very exciting day for the Los Angeles Kings. We've coveted a true elite player for a long time, and we feel that with the big steps we've taken in the past few years, Ilya will make us a real force as soon as next season and for the next 12 years." Along with Kovalchuk, the Kings also received prospect Alexander Vasyunov and the Devils' fourth round pick in 2010. Williams Heading Back to CarolinaShortly following the Kovalchuk deal, the Kings announced that they had traded Justin Williams to the Hurricanes for prospect Oskar Osala and Carolina's third round pick in 2010. you do realise there are no ufa signings untill after the draft right? I traded for him and had a mod approve my signing... There are no clear sets of rules anywhere, but I figured that a mod approving meant it was alright.

you can resign RFAs but not UFAs no UFAs have been signed i was also given the privilege of being Kovys agent so yeah...

I don't no what the problem is he aquired Kovalchuks rights so he was free to extend him just like any other free agent on his roster, pretty standard procedure.

in real nhl you can sign a guy wenever dosnt matter RFA or UFA so it being a GM Simulation i dont see how its a problem
