The Devils have come to terms on new contract with 4 of their players who were scheduled for free agency this offseason. The first player is David Clarkson, the RFA who made $875,000 last season has signed a new 4 year $4million deal that pays Clarkson $1 million over the next 4 years. Devils GM Torts said "David is one of our best players game in game out, its an easy decision to keep him here in Jersey". The second player who the Devils have come to terms with is current unrestricted free agent Rob Niedermayer. The 34 year old made $1 million dollars last season and signed a 2year $2million deal that pays him $1 million a year as well. Mike Mottau was the third player to receive a new contract this morning. After making $775,000 last season, the 31 year old American blueliner gets a pay raise that will see him earn $900,000 over the next 2 seasons. The 4th and final player to receive a new contract today was backup goalie Yann Danis. Danis signed a 1 year deal paying him $600,000. These signing leave New Jersey with only 5 free agents left on their roster. Ilya Kovalchuk, Paul Martin, Martin Skoula, dean McCammond and Rod Pelley. Sources indicate that the Devils are willing to do a trade and sign with Paul Martin. It also seems that Skoula and McAmmond are on their way out via free agency. -Torts
