Caps Fan 19 spoke to the media Sunday afternoon after the recent on slot of trades. "I am here to talk about the trades and signing i have made in the past few days. I'd like to start in order with the Anton Volchenkov trade. With Volchenkov we brought in a proven defensive dman who is arguably best in the league. I felt our d was one of our weaknesses, that really lead to us leaving the 1st round of the Stanley cup playoffs empty handed. I did have to give up a two good prospects and a pair of 3rds but i felt it was necessary. With The Ryan Miller trade it was simple, he was made available to us. Goaltending was a major concern for us and many other teams going into the postseason and we wanted to address it. We gave up two very good leaders on our team in order to get Ryan but it needed to be done. Ryan is the best goaltender in the NHL and we wanted to have him on our team. It isn't like we talked for 30 minutes and agreed on a deal. no we had been in talks for several days and finally got the deal done. When I traded Knuble my first thoughts were *how the hell am i going to replace him on our top line?*. Then one of our scouts asked me if i was interested in "Foppa". No matter what he asked i wanted to sign him and bring his experience and leadership to our team not to mention skill level. He was thrilled with our offer and said yes right away. With Roy we wanted to fix the second line center roll and thats just what we did. Through out the entire season we never had a true #2 center on our 2nd line. That was one of the other things we wanted to address in the off-season. We did have to give away two very good young players to get him but it was well worth it."
When asked if there were more trades to come Caps Fan 19 had this to say. "maybe right now do i have anything planned? not really, but you never know today you may have no offers but tommorow you may have an offer you cant refuse."
