Early today, the New York Islanders made a trade that sees veteran goalie Dwayne Rolston goes to Buffalo for Patrick Lalime and a draft pick. Shocking as lots of fans thought of Rolston as there starting goalie last season and for the upcoming season. Where Lalime since that one year playoff run in Ottawa has been a backup.
"I hate to trade Rollie, he is a great goalie but, he is coming to the end of his career and we are re-building so, we must play goalies that will play in the future. Lalime is also aging but, we feel he will be a nice backup to Biron, who is young enough to be a starter for years to come. We aren't giving up on DiPetro either, although I don't have very high hopes that he will return to his pre-injury play. I have had trade discussions with one GM but, he wants to make the deal big and complex, I want a simple trade. DiPetro for a pick and prospect trade." Said GM Douglas.
"I am sad to leave the Big Apple. I am near the end of my career and would have liked to end it here, but I am going to Buffalo. I just got off the phone with the Sabres GM and I feel we have a good shot at winning the cup next year. It looks like Carey and I will be competing for the starting job. I can't wait for camp and the chance to start working with Carey Price, who I hear is a nice guy."
Sources say that John Tavares is being shopped by the Matt Douglas. Although details are very bleak possible destinations include: Detriot, Chicago, Ottawa, Toronto, and Washington. The source also mentioned there having been discussions that include Okposo leaving for a first line center.
