---April 27, 2010 As the trading season opened up, Wild GM MWG was very active. He completed his first minor deal with an intra-divisional rival. It involved the underperforming Sheppard while having great potential, his growth was stunted by being brought up to the NHL right away and came away with his worst season yet. He only tallied 6 points, but was shipped out for a 4th round pick and Brandon Yip from Colorado. Yip had this to say,"I enjoyed my short stay in Colorado, but this is a great opportunity for me to continue on with my career, I'm going to come into Minny with a positive attitude and just try to get my game going." The biggest deal of the day was not complete though until later on in the night when the Wild were also able to acquire Marian Hossa in a trade with the Blackhawks. GM MWG sent Brent Burns and the 9th overall selection in the 2010 NHL entry to draft to the Hawks in exchange for Hossa, Akim Aliu, and 2 draft selections in the 2nd round of the 2010 draft. Hossa's comments,"I signed with Chicago in the offseason, but it just didn't work out the first year there. I told them I'd waive to go to Minny because I like what they are doing over there, and I think we are going to be able to do something great here, I'm just excited to meet the guys and get this thing going." This was the first couple of moves, but I think we will see some more from our new GM MWG.
