Columbus Dispatch:
GM jcoldwell has gone on record in saying that the Columbus Bluejackets are searching for a top six center to play with Rick Nash for the upcoming season.
"My first job is to find a center to play with Rick Nash for the upcoming season. I will be talking to several general managers at the annual gm's meeting that is held before the entry draft to see if we can get anything done.
If that fails, then I will look at free agency to see who is available and if they fit in our budget." jcoldwell
The question of trading Rick Nash was a possibility if nothing gets worked out at that time and here was gm jcoldwell's answer
"First and foremost, I would like a center, but if the time comes and we cannot get one via trade or free agency, then I will look at the possibility of trading Mr. Nash, but that is not being talked about at this moment in time. We, as an organization will be seeking a trade for a top six center."
Going into the offseason, the Jackets have some work to do with signing their own free agents and looking through their team to see what their strengths and weaknesses are.
The only hint that jcoldwell gave us was that he would want another backup goalie to play 15-25 games so that Mason can get some rest.
It seems that Mathieu Garon has played his last game in Columbus.
